KMS BACCALAUREATE

At Kings Monkton School we look beyond exam results to develop well rounded individuals. The Kings Monkton School Baccalaureate is a bespoke programme that has been designed by us to demonstrate how pupils are developing, both within and outside school by acknowledging their individual interests.

As pupils progress through the school, the programme will adapt and change so it enriches their experiences. We want to encourage our pupils to get involved in projects and become active participants in their communities developing lifelong skills and attributes for success.

There are 3 strands, and they develop as pupils progress through the school.

  • Knowledge – This strand encourages independent learning and is in addition to homework. Tasks are set by staff to support curriculum knowledge and pupils are awarded points values. Pupils can choose tasks that reflect their personal interests and how much time they would like to spend learning.
  • Merit/Motivation – In this section encourages pupils to learn new skills and rewards their individual perseverance. At 6th Form this will become more leadership focused to develop their personal interests.
  • Support/Service – Younger pupils will simply get involved in clubs and activities, whilst older pupils will actively seek change within their local communities and this section rewards philanthropic endeavours.
