“Kings Monkton provides students with a multicultural learning environment and a variety of outdoor activities. George is very interested in the school’s curriculum and looks forward to attending. Moreover, I particularly appreciate the teachers in Kings Monkton, who are full of love and patience for the children and respect for their communication with them. I believe it will make George’s body and mind, especially his character, better developed.”

“The school offers a safe and solid ground for learning and exploration for my child. The family environment allows for my child’s mind to grow positively and to create childhood memories. Learning is both important and fun at the same time.
A fantastic place to be. Home away from home.”

“Kings Monkton is an inclusive school where children are encouraged to work to their full potential but in an unpressurised way. Because it’s a small school, it has a family feel and children and teachers really get to know each other. I like the diversity of the school, the cultural offer and off course the high standard of education. My son is thriving at the school.”

“What truly sets Kings Monkton apart is the hard work and passion exhibited by the entire staff. The tireless efforts they put into their teaching, the genuine care they show towards each student, and their willingness to adapt and innovate in the face of challenges. It is clear that they are not just educators but mentors and role models who inspire their students to excel.
I must also commend the exemplary leadership provided by our headmaster, Mr Norton. His unwavering commitment to the welfare and growth of every child is truly commendable. His leadership sets the tone for the entire school community, fostering an atmosphere of excellence, respect, and continuous improvement.”

“I moved my daughter to Kings Monkton when she was in year 3 and I haven’t looked back. Alexandra has mild dyslexia and when she first joined the school she found reading, writing and maths particularly challenging. Over time and with effort and patience Alexandra has grown in confidence and her attitude towards school is very positive. There is intervention when needed and the small class sizes make a huge difference, enabling teachers to spend more time with children. The school provides a bus service from the home to the school and this has saved me over 2 hours a day in travel. I’m very happy with the Kings Monkton.”

“As parents, choosing the right school for our son Harrison was one of the most important decisions we’ve made—and Kings Monkton has truly exceeded our expectations. From the very beginning, during his transition days, we were impressed by how welcoming and supportive the entire school community was. Harrison had concerns about how his egg allergy would be managed, but these worries were quickly put to rest. The staff and pupils took the time to understand his needs, which reassured us greatly as parents.

Since joining Kings Monkton in Year 7, we have seen Harrison grow in both confidence and happiness. He has developed a genuine love for learning, particularly in mathematics, where the teaching approach has enabled him to thrive. We’ve been so proud to see him grasp challenging topics, such as improper fractions, with enthusiasm and confidence.

The wide range of extracurricular activities has also made a huge difference to his school experience. Harrison has joined clubs such as Dungeons and Dragons, Warhammer, and the Games Club, where he has made friends across different year groups. These activities have given him valuable social opportunities and a sense of belonging within the school community.

One of the standout moments for Harrison this year was the school trip to Disneyland Paris, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He also takes part in a climbing activity at Boulders, where he learns teamwork and practical skills that he’s eager to build on. He’s now really looking forward to the upcoming residential trip to Abernant.

Each day, Harrison looks forward to going to school. He even chooses to arrive early to attend Breakfast Club, where he enjoys spending time with his friends before lessons begin. As parents, we are delighted with how Kings Monkton has nurtured and supported our son during his first year. We are confident that he is thriving in a caring, inclusive, and inspiring environment that encourages him to reach his full potential”

“My child started Kings Monkton School in year 8, and his education has been a game-changer! The school instils in children the confidence and belief to thrive through its warm, inclusive and adaptable teaching approach. The pastoral care is exceptional; Respect is ingrained in every part of the school’s values, making it a safe and happy environment where my child has built good friendship groups and admiration for the teaching staff. I also particularly love how much extra-curricular opportunities are put into the school’s creative arts output.”

“Our son struggled with anxiety when transitioning to comprehensive school which became progressively worse over time. We made the decision to move him to Kings Monkton School towards the end of Year 7. All the teachers and pupils welcomed him into the school with such kindness. He thrived in the small class sizes, nurturing calm environment and positive encouragement from all the staff. His well-being is at the heart of the school ethos. We knew we had made the right decision when after a few days at the school he said to us “Thank you for moving me, this is the school for me”

“When we were accepted into Kings Monkton three years ago, one could not imagine how kind and patient all staff members are. Each child is truly valued and cared for. We are fortunate to have a Wellbeing Team, and they are always on hand to help at any given time. We have received a nurturing experience for both our children and each child’s needs are met to standard that we had not experienced previously, both academically and emotionally.

The school is inclusive and culturally diverse, which enables the pupils to become more tolerant and understanding of others. There is a great community atmosphere due to this. The reason that all the aforementioned is able to happen is due to the school’s foundation: Mr & Mrs Norton!
We are grateful that our children can attend such a school.”

“As parents, we are confident that our two children are in the best school in Cardiff. Kings Monkton meets both their individual needs.

Our youngest child in Primary has been fully supported by the school’s excellent and compassionate ALN and wellbeing services and the teachers have been very understanding and nurturing.

Our eldest child has thrived since joining Year 7. The school provides him with further challenges with their Extend programme, which we feel helps to motivate and inspire him. He’s also enjoyed taking part in multiple musical performance opportunities so far, such as the Orchestra club, Eisteddfod, and in-house musical productions. The lunchtime clubs have also allowed him to develop his interests, such as Warhammer.

We are so pleased the school has a no phone policy in school hours, which we feel is important.

It is clear from our experience that the school understands that each child is an individual and they they can only do their best and learn if they feel happy and safe in school.”

“The staff at Kings Monkton understand my child exceptionally well and use this to challenge her, build her confidence and ultimately get the very best from her. Parental meetings and highly personalised comments in her reports reflect just how well she is known in school and how her efforts in lessons and in her extra-curricular endeavours are recognised and celebrated.”
